Andrew V. Z. BrowerThis tree diagram shows the relationships between several groups of organisms.
The root of the current tree connects the organisms featured in this tree to their containing group and the rest of the Tree of Life. The basal branching point in the tree represents the ancestor of the other groups in the tree. This ancestor diversified over time into several descendent subgroups, which are represented as internal nodes and terminal taxa to the right.
You can click on the root to travel down the Tree of Life all the way to the root of all Life, and you can click on the names of descendent subgroups to travel up the Tree of Life all the way to individual species.

close boxIntroduction
A montane neotropical genus, occurring in the Andean cloud forest from Venezuela to Bolivia. The different species groups appear to replace one another in elevational bands. Larvae of several species have been reared on Chusquea (Poaceae) (Pyrcz et al., 2011).Characteristics
Members of the genus are immediately recognizable by the relatively long "tails" on the hind wings. Many species exhibit an orange or rust-colored postmedial bar on the dorsal forewing. Prycz et al. (2011) provides a detailed revision of the genus, with genitalic characters that distinguish the species in addition to the diagnostic wing-pattern features that are discussed on the species pages here.Discussion of Phylogenetic Relationships
The hypothesis of relationships is based on discursive species-group designations by Pyrcz et al. (2011). A phylogenetic analysis has not been performed.References
