Rhysodina

Introduction
The Rhysodina are a medium sized subtribe of Rhysodini with one rather large and diverse genus (Kaveinga) and two very small additional ones. Representatives of the subtribe occur in Australia, the Pacific Islands from New Zealand and New Caledonia west to Mindanao and Sulawesi, and also in the Palaearctic.

Characteristics
The subtribe is easily recognized by the enlargement of the median lobe of the head, which extends posteriorly to the neck region, completely separating the temporal lobes. The minor setae of the antennae form rings on segments V-X, VI-X, or VII-X. The elytral striation is complete, and stria VII is marginal. The middle tibia has a straight external apical process, and it has only one apical spur, which is large and hooked at the tip and either free or fused to the tibia. The hind tibia has only one small, straight spur. The male has a calcar only on the hind tibia.

Relationship of Rhysodina to Other Rhysodines
The rings of minor setae suggest a relationship to Omoglymmiina and Dhysorina.
