Introduction

Shyrodes is a monotypic genus known from one series of specimens from the Ruby Mines in northern Burma.

Characteristics

Shyrodes is similar to Yamatosa, except for the following features: The anterior part of the head is elongate, and the frontal grooves are abbreviated anteriorly. The eye is small, ocelliform, and protruding. The pronotum is without discal strioles. The elytra are relatively short and rounded. The basal scarp of the elytron is oblique medially resulting in a large, triangular depression around the scutellum. The wings are vestigial.
