Characteristics
Brachoria calceata individuals are about 39.9 mm long and 10.1 mm wide (females 39.4 mm X 9.8 mm). Color: 3-spotted yellow (3.75Y 8.5/12, shown above); and striped orangeish-yellow (10YR 8/10).

Habitat
Brachoria calceata specimens were collected during the day (19:00 and 20:00) in a dry maple forest near the road and in a maple and birch forest near a stream. Individuals were found beneath layers of decaying leaf material, predominately maple and birch. At the first locality, a single specimen was collected near the banks of a road beneath thick stacks of leaves; whereas at the second locality, specimens were collected in a rich forested riparian area. No other xystodesmids were encountered sympatrically. Note: Individuals of B. calceata may be confused in the field with Rudiloria guyandotta due to overlap in distribution and similarity in color patterns.Distribution
Known only from the type locality in Anderson Co., Kentucky and across the Kentucky River a few kilometers east in Woodford Co. The closest known Brachoria species, B. electa, also occurs in Tyrone, Anderson Co., Kentucky.Conservation status
Brachoria calceata is threatened by habitat loss due to agriculture (especially growing demand for paper products), coal mining, development, and the invasion of exotic species.References
